DAVx5 sync app in F-Droid now wants Location permissions?

Is anyone else seeing the DAVx5 in F-Droid app "New" permissions to access location? Thoughts about what to do about it?

I've been syncing my contacts and calendar using DAVx5, and just hoping that they don't steal my data.

When F-Droid asked to install a new version of DAVx5 today, I checked the permissions, and saw these "New" permissions. (But I don't see those on the F-Droid Web site: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/at.bitfire.davdroid/ )

New: access approximate location only in the foreground

New: access location in the background

New: access precise location only in the foreground

When I diff the F-Droid Web site's lists of DAVx5 permissions for the most recent 2 versions, I see only plausible-looking additions (which are also shown in the F-Droid app):

+    run foreground service with the type "dataSync"
+    Allows the app to make use of foreground services with the type "dataSync"

So now I am a little confused and concerned about the Location permissions, especially after the recent selling out by Simple Mobile Tools.

just updated from v4.3.12 to v4 .3.13
update did not ask for more permissions
I can see location permission is revoked, thus must have been this way before the update.
app is working, no issues whatsoever, without location and without sensor permission

Thanks. I have DAVx5 4.3.12 installed, and the F-Droid 1.19.0 app is showing me these "New" location permissions for DAVx5.

So I updated to DAVx5 4.3.13 just now, and restarted F-Droid app, but F-Droid app is still showing those "New" location permissions for DAVx5.

I'm not very familiar with F-Droid, so maybe I'm reading it wrong.

tapedisp New DAVx5 releases declares the location permission but isn't mandatory to allow it.
I really don't know why this permission will be used. Maybe to automatically sync calendars when you connected to your WiFi network (connected WiFi name requires location permission in new Android versions) or maybe is required by another function. In any case, isn't required by normal app work.
