"Confirm eSIM deletion" setting, explanation?

Latest build android14-based : Settings > Security > More security settings

By default "Verify it's you before erasing an eSIM" is untoggled. Can someone explain me why please? To me it's always best to ask for user credentials before erasing such important thing (a phone number). Some opponent/jealous partner could erase the eSIM and I guess there's no way to be reached by anyone anymore and the phonenumber is released to someone else, is that it ?

I think it's good that you have the choice. There may be users whose threat scenario makes it necessary to delete an eSIM as quickly as possible.

Murcielago Yes you're right, my imagination just has issues thinking in what scenarios it would be useful, if you guys could help me I'd be interested to know

edit : I don't even know how eSIMs work, I thought it was only an iphone thing and I know nothing about these unprivate devices. eSIMs are linked to our identity anyway isn't it ? So someone can't deny having owned the eSIM isn't it?

Settings: enable SIM deletion confirmation by default

This is now enabled by default.
