N1b Framework has Coreboot support? Source please.
I heard they have the laptops to Coreboot developers, but the hardware was complex and there were many issues, they are supposedly still working on it.
3mdeb is working on Coreboot on AMD chips. But this is not done yet afaik.
Hat thanks, thats interesting indeed. Lets see how their focus on Security will become like, I have the feeling that is really not the focus.
DeletedUser115 what makes an ipad more secure than a mac? And inherently those systems are as secure because they are so sealed off. I could never use an Apple OS, even Android is a pain but like you have 6 different ways to install apps.
Also Android will take ages to be as complete as Desktop Linux. I think GrapheneOS with VM support might be nice. But apps are not meant for large screens, even if vanadium has a "Desktop" view its more ipad-ish with very little buttons, features etc. Tablets are Laptops for people that dont know the difference.
Google may be different here. They have Chromebooks, okay, impressive, interesting but also ugly Platform. So they may have the same tendencies to keep the "tablet" stuff in a different range, just like Apple never made Macbooks with Touchscreens or ipads with full-fledged app support.
The secure-core PC sounds interesting, have to research what this is. Also I will look into new ARM laptops, as I suppose even ARM Chromebooks dont have a better focus on security and their performance just sucks...
In the end I think coreboot is really important, because it is often also way more minimal and secure, not only NSA-backdoor free. I am very happy about my Novacustom laptop and will continue to support 3mdeb and their awesome work! Not to forget mrchromebox, chrultrabook people, system76, starlabs and many others that work on open hardware.
