Are Progressive Web Apps less secure/private than regular apps? Some tech people seem to support this.

From a privacy and security perspective, using web apps is generally preferable to web sites for apps without local data storage or end-to-end encryption.

So basically yes. You will also save battery life and have less attack surface. Chromium is much harder to exploit than some shitty random app id imagine so its better to have a browser client than 10 unsafe apps installed.

[deleted] Have you tried Native Alpha? It uses the system webview, so its pretty secure and it elevated my webapp experience significantly.

[deleted] Something tells me that system webview within Native Alpha is not the same thing as being contained in Vanadium especially after looking at their Q&As on their github page. So thank you, I am going to abstain.

[deleted] I meant that it uses the system webview (Vanadium) as a webview implementation as that is preinstalled. It does not have its own one thats why i recommanded it, cuz you still use Vanadium technically with it.

goskm75f What do you mean? Its a factuality that chromium which is made by a company with infinite resources will be more secure than a random apk. Do you trust lets say Twitter app more than chromium? Is it a coincidence that Pixels are the most secure android devices? Google is super good with security. Gecko for example is dogshit in basically every security comparision. Webapps will limit what otherwise normal apps could do on your device.
