I was reading this thread, where I read this:
VoWiFi still needs your IMSI, to establish a SIP session to your carrier.
https://github.com/working-group-two/engineering-blog/blob/master/pages/blog/_posts/2020-03-30-catch-imsi-from-vowifi-session.md
VoWiFi is not meant to hide your IMSI from the carrier, it is meant to hide your location. Since you could establish
this connection from any place in the world as long as you have a whitelisted IP address (normally just an IP address
geolocated to the country of your carrier)
It's understandable why the carrier would require your IMSI for Wi-Fi caliing, as they need to identify the subscriber for billing purposes. That much makes sense.
What I don't know is whether or not VoWiFi transmits the IMSI only, or if it transmits the IMSI and the IMEI, as is the case when using regular VoLTE.
I would appreciate if I could have this either confirmed or denied by somebody who would be in a position to know the answer with 100% certainty.
Thank you.
