Quote from https://grapheneos.org/faq:
“Due to needing to trust the computer with coarse-grained access, we recommend transferring files with a flash drive or by sending the files to yourself via an end-to-end encrypted messaging app like Element (Matrix).”
And MTP hasn't worked for me under macOS for a long time, so in an emergency I use a USB-C card reader with a (micro)SD card inserted.
Disadvantage: the timestamp (date of all copied files) is set to the current copy date!
Such a backup is completely useless. It is therefore only suitable for emergencies (better than nothing!).
My Workaround: I only use apps that can create a backup of the user data themselves.
And I email these backup files (if they are no larger than 25 MB) to myself via Tuta Mail, where I keep them securely encrypted.
