Does anyone use the Windows "Phone Link" app (with the Android companion app "Link to Windows") to do stuff like manage SMS from their PC? They are not staying connected for me. I have both devices on the same LAN, "allow sync over mobile data" is also enabled, the Android app has bypassed Battery Optimization, DND, unlimited Background Data usage, all permissions/notifications enabled, and Exploit Compatibility Mode is enabled too. The Windows app likewise has Background Component Permission "Let this program run in the background" = Always (so it won't be optimized for battery, although my PC is on AC power 24/7 regardless.)
The devices are paired, but their status is Disconnected, and clicking the reconnect button results in the message, "We can't find Pixel 7, open and scan the QR code to disconnect." When I do scan the QR with my phone, the devices immediately connect. Success, right? Not so fast. They disconnect again in a matter of minutes. It's not an issue of being killed in the background, because I tried leaving both devices on, plugged in, with their respective Phone Link apps focused. Nothing was changing on either device, or with the network. They still disconnected.
I'm running out of ideas here. Do these apps work for anyone else? I'd at least like to narrow down whether it's an issue with GOS or with something about my PC...
