  • USB memory card: Files are always saved with copy date instead of original date

Seed Vault is completely useless as backup software.
Okay, I can live with that, because I only use apps that can take care of their own backups.
So all I need to do is regularly back up the backup files created by these apps locally on the Pixel to a memory card using a USB card reader or email them to my end-to-end encrypted mailbox via Tuta Mail.

But everything you copy from the Pixel Phone to the SanDisk card gets the same date!
This is also useless as a backup!

I have tested this not only with the Files app from GOS, but also with several other similar apps.
Is this a problem with GOS? Is there an app that does not change the original date when copying?

I would like the GOS development team to urgently optimise the Files app.
I will gladly donate a two-digit amount for this. ;-)

This app isn't really better than the Files app which comes with GOS.
It also changes the date and time to the copy time when copying, which makes it completely unusable.

I am actually satisfied with the Files app that comes with GOS except for the misbehaviour when copying to the SD card.

    Like, what?
Not trying to promote this FOSS app but it feels like a proper app against some AOSP garbage.
I know AOSP doesn't make "bad apps" on purpose, they make basic apps.
Next time you will tell me you like the default music player as well :)

Haha, no, the standard music player isn't better.

For my needs the File manager delivered with GOS is okay, but not the mentioned issue regarding time stamps.
I had no other issues as the copy date instead of original date on files.

23Sha-ger Dates always seem to be Jan 1 1970 for some reason.

epoch time we use this date to fill in blank date fields at my company which is how I learned this.
