Bank App Fails to Download (App not supported)

Hi,

I used to be able to download and run bank apps on my phone. At some point that stopped and i'm not even able to download the bank app, for example: RBC mobile bank app through the google play store/ aurora store. In fact, it doesn't even appear in the app store for me (other RBC apps appear just not this one). I have to search the app name online, then go to the google play link. Then when I click download, it will say: "Download failed. App not supported. "

I tried:

1) disabling VPN
2) using strictly using cell data
3) Installing on main profile
4) Disable secure app spawning
4) enable automatic exploit protection comptability mode
5) enable block for third-party apps by default

Device Info:

1) Latest GOS version
2) Pixel 6

Any help would be appreciated.

I think your bank is checking for Google play integrity which fails on GrapheneOS.

SoulKeeper I also forgot to mention I also installed google play services via the GOS app app which also resulted in the same issue, is there any way around this?

GOS49283 Are you saying you are getting "Download failed. App not supported" error even when installing Google Play Services from GraoheneOS app store? That's weird!

SoulKeeper Yeah! I installed google services through GOS app and even restarted and tried downloading again and got the "Download failed. App not supported" message still.

I had the same situation (I think) with RBC and TD banking apps. In a situation I had some weeks ago, I had Google Play Store and google installed and I could not find my 2 banking apps from the Play Store. The search would not even show these 2 apps. Just for kicks I uninstalled all Google apps then installed Aurora and used it anonymously and the 2 banking apps did show up in a search and I installed from there and they work perfectly.

brookie229 Thank you brookie. I gave that a try (uninstalling google services and aurora, then installing google services then installing aurora store) and I still couldnt see the rbc mobile app in aurora and it also failed to download when I searched it online.

I'm still not clear - after uninstalling everything, don't reinstall Google services or Play - just use Aurora and with "anonymous" . Maybe I misunderstood your reply to me? After installing with Aurora you can reinstall everything Google to use all services of the app. That's what I did and everything works fine for me with RBC.

Experienced similar weeks ago where the bank stopped working on one of my LineageOS because its not stock android. Decided to ditch the app as it was saying my phone was rooted, despite not being one.

They must have implemented "patches" recently.

Not the issue you are describing, but just to let you know there's been few changes recently

I believe all apps work when you download the google sandbox programs on a separate profile. no?

brookie229 I already had aurora store and google services installed (through graphene app). So I did what (I think you meant) by re-installing aurora store and google services. My issue remained after this.

Is that what fixed it for you? That's what I did and my issue remains.

No, I did not reinstall Google Services until AFTER I opened up Aurora (anonomously), searched for and found RBC Mobile then installed the app. Afterwards, I installed all Google stuff in order to get full functionality of the app. I think I rebooted the device after each step as well but that's probably not necessary.

I think you may have misunderstood my problem. I cannot download/install the RBC mobile bank app onto my phone. It fails to even get the app on my phone.

But for testing I followed your instructions (hopefully) and this is what I did:

1) Uninstall google services
2) Look up rbc mobile app in aurora store
3) Click Install
4) I receive error: Download Failed App not supported

I still could not download/install the rbc mobile app following above instructions.

GOS49283 I'm fairly sure the application is checking if its stock android. Since its not, its going to fail. I don't think there is a way around this. Hulu does the same thing

I would say use the web version of the mobile bank app if possible

Sorry to hear that. You have done exactly what I did but the app downloaded and installed correctly in my case. The only other suggestions I have are to make sure you are logging into Aurora as anonymous and maybe try using the spoof manager in the Aurora app. That's all I've got.
