Pixel 6a front camera "makeup look"

I come from a 4a to a 6a. The hardware sucks. Cameras seem equal if not worse, fingeprint reader, external DAC dongles...

But enough ranting. My face in the front camera looks horrible? Like those really bad makeup Tiktok (or whatever people use) filters.

Is that hardware? It looks like some kind of software but that cant be.

I assume so, but I'll ask just to make sure we're not comparing apples and oranges: Which camera are you using (GrapheneOS or Pixel Camera, for example)? And I'm assuming it's the same camera app on both phones, right?

Did anyone of you also notice such a decrease?

I have the feeling Google is artificially making the a Models worse. That camera seems worse than in my 4a, 2 generations older and all that dual camera fancy stuff!
