Sim toolkit apk question

Hi Folks,

There is a built-in app called Sim Toolkit (impossible to disable or remove).

Now, I purchased a sim card from another country today while visiting and the Sim Toolkit app renamed to that sim card's company name and the shortcut added to my apps. If I tap to it, it opens operator's settings - how much credit left, phone number, etc.

Is this an expected behaviour and how invasive it is? Thanks.

It's an AOSP app. goldfish has it too, and have a shortcut named "Tmoble". All I think it does is similar to the Visual Voicemail. SIM Toolkit seems to pretty popular outside the US.

SIM toolkit is mostly used by SIM card operators to show on screen value added services.
