fix this forum software / why not Discourse?

Is there a reason not to use Discourse? It is so much better.

Issues:

drafts are not saved, when reloading everything is gone
only 3 edits of posts allowed
worse Markdown editor without preview
writing window on mobile not fullsize

There's a limit on number of edits? I thought it was just a limit after a set amount of time.

I prefer Discourse, it is much more user friendly, modern with a lot of plugins and most importantly not written in PHP.

A lot of FOSS communities use Discourse so users will be more familiar with UI.

The reply from @strcat is from 2022, a lot have changed since then.

I like the simplicity of this forum. The bells and whistles are nice but this is just a pleasure to not get to bogged down in. I do wish it was a proper PWA and there could be an RSS feed though.

My vote goes to discourse as well.

Aside from all the bells and whistles, it also has an MFA security option, which I think is useful.
