No. In general as long as you utilize one of the operating systems (and browsers) explicitly listed as supported the guide contains all the information you need. Others may or may not work, Fedora does but yeah, the udev rules are a little harder to get going.

That's a common source of problems, the usb protocol is more complex than one might think, 3rd party cables also often don't match the requirements. Lastly distros with slower release schedule may be affected by the fwupd bug.
