I use mullvad vpn.
Today i picked my phone up to use, turned wifi on, then when i clicked to turn my vpn on i got an error whose content i can't recall now. Something like "no vpn available" or something. I noticed i can use internet but my ip is the home ip.
Went to Settings > Network & Internet > VPN. And noticed there is nothing there.
Previously mullvad vpn was listed there with "always on vpn" and "block connection without vpn" enabled. Originally when I installed mullvad this entry had been added here automatically.
So now even though my vpn app was still installed this entry was gone. Opening the mullvad app and attempting to connect to a server wouldn't work either.
I got very worried about a possible remote attack so i immediately restarted the phone. The vpn slot was not restored. Still things looked the same.
I had to uninstall and reinstall the mullvad app. This caused the entry to return back into the VPN settings. And vpn started working again.
I restarted one more time to ckeck the OS hash at boot. It checked out normal.
Checking my mullvad vpn account on mullvad website for connected devices, i saw 5 previous devices, where as Only 2 or 3 should have ever been connected. I panicked and deleted all connections, but this could have been a mistake. Its possible that i have installed and reinstalled mullvad app in the past and each new installation could have registered as a new device and i had not paid attention.
So...
Was I silently hacked?
Is this a new bug?
My version is: UQ1A.240105.002.2024010400
This sounds awefully similar to this bug report made by another person in past 24 hours in this post:

Is it possible a manual restart because of the recent update caused this? I did not enter any safe mode.
