Cannot switch user while being called from a voip app

Not sure if this is a bug or just an inherent limitation of using multiple users, but I am unable to switch between users if I am receiving a call from an app that has voip calls such as WhatsApp or Signal. This is especially annoying if I'm using a different user than the one containing the app I'm being called from since this means I can neither refuse the call nor answer it and have to wait for the call to time out before I can switch users again. Is this a bug that might be fixed in the future or just an inherent limitation of multiple users on Android I have to get used to?

As far as I understand this is an inherent limitation of multiple user profiles on Android.

The GrapheneOS development team have implemented some improvements to the functionality of user profiles, see: https://grapheneos.org/features#improved-user-profiles.

However, as I'm not a developer, I'm not sure whether it's feasible to implement a workaround to enable such a feature.

treequell thank you for your reply! I was already suspecting that much. At least it's still possible to turn off the sound to prevent the ringing, but it would be nice to somehow block these calls or auto-refuse them if you are in a different profile. Now it's kind of useless that the phone is ringing with absolutely no way of acting on it. Would this maybe be something to raise as an issue with the upstream AOSP?

qubit I'll agree that it is frustrating that it's not possible to even decline the call. You could consider opening a feature request on the GrapheneOS issue tracker: https://github.com/GrapheneOS/os-issue-tracker/issues.
