Bluetooth security

I noticed that before first unlock, paired bluetooth devices can connect to my phone. I know that with wired accessories, they are only allowed to connect when the device is unlocked so is there not a similar risk with Bluetooth?

grapheneosfan2 you mentioned well "paired". I doubt that BFU you would be able to succesfully pair your device with another bluetooth device succesfully without confirmation coming from your locked device.

Surely this shouldn't be a problem as long as you enable automatic disabling of bluetooth in settings?

Dumdum I do have this enabled but it doesn't seem to apply to reboots, which may be an issue if for instance you know your phone is about to be taken so you reboot it, but Bluetooth is still enabled and is a potential security risk. I would suggest having an option for disabling Bluetooth before first unlock, though it would have to be opt-in because I assume there's some accessibility reasons for wanting to have Bluetooth before unlocking your phone.

grapheneosfan2 If you have "turn off Bluetooth automatically" enabled, bluetooth will automatically turn off after the timeout that you specify in settings when not connected to a saved Bluetooth device, regardless of whether the phone is in BFU or not.

Further to that, Bluetooth will only be switched on after a reboot if Bluetooth was on when you rebooted the phone. The screen has to be unlocked to manually toggle Bluetooth on or off.

I feel it's worth mentioning that in addition to this, if one is concerned about any potential network connections at time of boot, you will want to always ensure that before any restart or powering off of the device that you enable airplane mode as that is the only way to effectively and completely ensure that no network activity will take place during boot
