Are the GOS Chat Plattforms safe to use

After a long time (since the incidents that happened last year) i decided to sign up for one of the platforms again to read the discussions over there.

It only was an hour before someone posted illicit/illegal pictures in one off the channels.

So is this sick campaign still ongoing?

I am writing this , because I am not sure if you put your users at risk of becoming part of a ncmec report (discord for example) for merely being in the room while those ill minded people raid the room.

If this happens frequently, you should really issue a warning in the sticky chat

GreenGras These raids are mainly the fault of one YouTuber and a few other individuals.

I think Discord should be safe to use because it does filter out explicit content, as far as I know.

I don't use their Matrix or anything, but I imagine it would be safe otherwise they wouldn't be using it? As for illegal pictures, I feel like this was either not an official GOS platform or an incident(s?) that simply happened at a time that moderators weren't available to deal with, which I fail to see why you're holding that against GOS. And besides, a public platform will always carry such risks/dangers anyway.

Also I am not blaming GOS at all. It's not their fault.

GrapheneOS chat platforms are safe to use. Malicious people posting illegal content is a legal problem for those people, not their victims. You don't need to use a throwaway account because of this. The people raiding the rooms often lie and claim people are in legal risk from what they're posting, which is simply not true. You're rewarding them for what they did and it comes across as one of the tactics they use.

Lukas Discord unfortunately doesn't support filtering content in webhooks, so the vulnerability of Matrix to these raids impacts Discord too.

While they can, they shouldn't need to make such warnings. This is why I said that public platforms will always carry such risks. I'm not sure why you think GOS platforms would be any different unless you think that the risks wouldn't exist for any platforms in the first place.

Sure? But you'll either just have to get used to the possibility that you might find this stuff (literally wherever you go) or just avoid public platforms completely (or as much as possible).
